Two words in the tax code sound almost identical and mean very different things.

Transfer. Unlimited, no deadline, nothing reported, no way to get it wrong.

Rollover. A 60 day clock, once per twelve months, and a way to accidentally turn your retirement account into a taxable event.

They both describe moving money from one IRA to another. The difference is whether it passes through your hands.

And if you are moving an IRA into a gold IRA, that distinction is the single most consequential thing you will decide, well ahead of which coins you buy.
